RECEIPT OF CERTIFICATE

The types of certificate a child will receive will be determine by the academic performance, behaviour, and participation in school activities during 10th and 11th grade. Diploma – The student have maintained 70% average or higher for both years, should not have a suspension record for both years, should be involved in extra-curricular activities and/or have had some responsibility (e.g. prefect, student councillor, officer of a club, peer group counsellor etc.). Certificate – The student should have no suspension for both years, should attend classes and school for at least 90% of the total number of sessions, should attend classes relating to the option he or she was assigned in grade 10.

DRESS

Student should wear the uniform under the gown. Formal accessories may be worn.

VALEDICTORIAN

The Valedictorian will be voted for by his/her peers however; the final decision will be made by the Graduation Committee/Academic Staff.

The Valedictorian should:

    1. Outstanding academic performance for grades 10 and 11
    2. Be involved in Co-curricular activities
    3. Have an exemplary behaviour, that is, no suspensions, detention or demerit

Grade 10 & 11

In grades 10 and 11 students are prepared for the Caribbean
Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) the General Proficiency.

In grade 10, students are placed in option groups on the basis of
their performance in subject areas. English Language and Mathematics are compulsory and students are  expected to do six (6) other subjects. The subjects offered at grades 10 and 11 level are:

Grade 12 & 13

Lang & At grades 12 & 13 students are prepared for CAPE. For admission to grades 12 students must have at least five (5) passes with grades 1 – 2 at CSEC.

To be admitted to grade 13 students must pass at least 3 Subjects at the CAPE level taken in grade 12. The subjects offered in grades 12 and 13 are:

CAP- Career Advancement Programme

Charlemont High School believes that a school should not be insular, but should rather find means to support the needs of the wider society. This school became a part of the CAP initiative in 2009.

The aim of CAP is to offer school leavers courses in Commercial Food Preparation, Data Operations, Visual Arts, Teacher Assistance and Customer Service. These students are certified by NCTVET and City & Guilds.

Unattached Youth Programme

Charlemont High School believes that a school should not be insular, but should rather find means to support the needs of the wider society. This school became a part of the HEART Attached Youth initiative in 2019.

The aim of this programme is to offer school leavers courses in Commercial Food Preparation, Cake Bakery, Allied Health and Customer Engagement. These students are certified by HEART NTA.
